FEATURE FRIDAY: SNAFU - HIKIGAYA'S ESSAY PART 1

Question: An essay of looking back on your time in high school
Answer: An article about youth and dissatisfaction on those who enjoy their youth

One of the reasons on why students fail to get mark in question given in exam is because the students give out wrong answer or giving answer unrelated to the question. The question asks 1+1, but the students's answer is something like 2 molecules of hydrogen + 1 molecule of oxygen equals to H2O. The answer does not reflect the question at all. it is like two different topics. This is how SNAFU begins.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy Wa Machigatteiru or Oregairu or the other English title My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU aired in 2013 revolving Hachiman Hikigaya with his two fellow club members of Volunteer Service Club, Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui. I have to say that the essay is exactly the reason why this story begins. He has to join the club as a punishment for his stray-out-of-the-path essay.

You can assume in the first episode that Hikigaya is a loner. While the others are with their friends, he is the only one on his own which I do not think he mind it at all.

Hahaha... Hikigaya's essay is absolutely hilarious. Just like the teacher said, it is really scornful especially on the youth part. He even wants those who enjoy youth to go and die. If I was the teacher, even I would react like her.

Look at the eyes that are looking elsewhere not the teacher. Even when Hikigaya defends his work, Shizuka does not bat an eye. She does not accept the essay. Wrong answer as it does not answer the question. This scene marks the beginning of his life in a club where the members are supposed to fulfill the students' wish, of course only the logical and doable one.

The scene is the one that I enjoy the most in the first episode. He is good in literature except for the part where his essay is off topic. I can say that SNAFU is one of the best anime that I watched for the past ten years. You can see as the story progressed that Hikigaya is a character that is truly relatable especially the way he deals with the request of the students in the Volunteer Service Club.

Well, that is all for now. More posts on SNAFU covering the other episodes later on. Have a good day, everyone.
