TUNE THURSDAY: HONG JIN YOUNG - CHEER UP

Trot singer Hong Jin Young who is famous with her song Love Battery is in Tune Thursday. The song that I choose is Cheer Up.

Lyrics (credits to official MV):

Cheer up, life is all like that

There are many hurtful and difficult days

Living is such a good thing

Great job today

How have you been?

Did you have another drink today?

Even if you feel like nothing is working

And want to sigh, don't be so sad

We don't know which cloud has rain

Good day will come to me someday

Cheer up, life is all like that

There are many hurtful and difficult days

Living is such a good thing

Great job today

Do you envy your next door?

Are your friends doing great?

Don't be so sad when you get sad since

everyone seems to be doing so great

If you look closely they have their stories

What's so special, they're all similar

Cheer up, life is all like that

There are many hurtful and difficult days

Living is such a good thing

Great job today

Cheer up, life is like that although

we can't know what will happen

Living is great

Cheer up for tomorrow, everyone

Great job today

The lyrics are the best pat of the song. The message is kind of simple. Do not be down no matter what happen in life. There are happy days, there are normal days and there are also hard and sad days. It is not necessarily only us who are sad and hurt. There are others in this world who share the same days like us. The 'good job' in the lyrics can be interpreted as you did your best today; you endure this and that, you did not give up, so keep it up. It is way of rewarding self by saying you give your all, be proud of what you achieved today. The MV is kind of sad especially seeing the dad and daughter having tough day. However, the end of the MV is really heartwarming. The flow of the story is parallel to the song lyrics.

You can watch the official MV below.

The video below is the version that I love the most. It is the duet between Hong Jin Young and contestant in Fantastic Duo 2. The vibe of the song is a little bit different from the official. This one is more tender, sad and melancholy.

Cheer up, everyone and good job for today. See you in Feature Friday.
