The Things We Never Said

Synopsis:

Disowned by the Tsukimori family for marrying against their wishes, Hajime Tsukimori builds a modest life with his wife, Nozomi, and their four children. Their fragile stability collapses when the youngest, Fuyuki, is diagnosed with complex single-ventricle congenital heart disease, a condition that can only be corrected through a high-risk operation performed by a surgeon far beyond their reach.

Salvation arrives in the form of a ruthless bargain from Hajime’s estranged father: the family must return to the Tsukimori household and reclaim their status, but Fuyuki is to be excluded—adopted away and erased from the family, deemed a defect unworthy of the Tsukimori name. With no other means to save their son, they accept. The last time they see Fuyuki is before he is taken into surgery, after which all contact is severed.

Years later, Hajime, Nozomi, and their remaining children rise to prominence within the Tsukimori empire, excelling in business and academia, admired by the very family that once rejected them. Yet beneath their success lies a shared, unspoken guilt. They never speak of Fuyuki, each carrying their regret alone.

When the weight of silence becomes unbearable, they begin searching for the brother and son they lost. Their resolve is unsettled by the presence of Nagisa, a cheerful orphan whose warmth and hidden sorrow awaken memories they have long buried, forcing them to confront the past and question whether redemption is still possible.
