The fight in obtaining the forbidden fruit ends with Kouta finally wins against Kaito. The waiting also ends for Mai. It is time for her to give the forbidden fruit to the winner of the war.
The world that separated Kouta and Mai finally disappears. The way Kouta and Mai try to reach out the other; it has been a long journey and it finally ends. No one is standing on their way to find each other.
Finally, they found each other. There is no more hesitation there. Since Kaito has fall, there is only Kouta left to take the forbidden fruit. Afterall, Kouta has affirmed his resolution.
These two understand each other. Mai wishes for a peace world as Kouta. As for Kaito, his hatred for the world that destroyed his home is too big to be destroyed unless he perished. As Kouta grieves for killing Kaito, Mai also grieves on her inability to stop Kaito which then leads to his death. But, Kouta and Mai are able to fulfill Kaito's wish too. It is too sad that just for a fruit, too many people have to be sacrificed. I'm glad that the right people obtain the fruit.
I'm glad that these two have happy ending. I also glad that although Mai is no longer a human, but she is happy with her condition now. She might not be able to dance with team Gaim or stays on Earth anymore, but at the very least, she has someone by her side, Kouta. As for Kouta, apart from worrying about her sister, I think he is fine being something else. That is something he has decided since he resolved to fight for Mai and the forbidden fruit. I love it when Mai assures Sagara that she is fine with anything since she is with Kouta now. There is nothing to be afraid of even when they are on an alien planet because no matter what, they are going to make it through. Together.
Finally I finished this post. It has been in my dashboard for a long time. I'm happy that I able to finish it.
Sorry to Kaito and Mai shippers, but Kouta and Mai pairing is the end game in the series. I am in the same boat as fellow Beginning couple outside there. Since the beginning of the series, I have never once support Kaito and Mai pairing, not even a second. That is because; I have always love the Beginning couple.
By the way, about the reaching out hand scene; can anyone please SERIOUSLY don't remind me about Harumi's tragic end??? Everytime we have the hand trying to reach out the other hand, my mind automatically pops up Harumi. How I wish we can have happy ending on them same as Kouta and Mai. if and only if the writer made Koyomi in comma or anything, other than being dead, I'm sure we will have Harumi happy ending. Koyomi being a phantom (the good one of course) is better than being dead for more than half a year already.
