Well, other than their hair turns blonde, Toqgers also learn to be a good parent(?) except for one member where she learns to bake a delicious cake.
It seems when it comes to birthday episode, it is usually involved Yellow member of the team. In this episode, we have Mio as the one who will celebrate the birthday while in Shinkenger, it was Kotoha birthday. Yoko also was the main character for the birthday episode in Gobusters. The three of them are Yellow sentai member in their respective team.
Since Kagura is the closest to Mio, it is no wonder that Kagura remembers her birthday. So, to celebrate Mio's birthday, the other passengers in the train decide to throw a big surprise birthday party for Mio. I laugh when Akira asks the others about his birthday. While everyone is thinking about the preparation on the party, Kagura suggests a must food for the birthday which is... Cake. Of course she will be the one to make it.
Here it is... Kagura's first cake ever. Right, Tokatti, Hikari and Akira can't wait to taste it. Kagura with a happy face asks about the cake. The answer of the four guys are:
Right: Is this really a cake?
Tokatti: Unique taste. It is not sweet or fluffy
Hikari: It feels like it's absorbing all moisture in my mouth
Akira: This is where I will die
Of course Kagura feels down. She is unlike Mio who is talented in cooking even if she is bad in romance. One detail that I notice is that despite Right's comment on the cake that is not a cake at all, he still eats the strawberry after that. Kagura then decides to learn to make cake for Mio. As soon as she mentions her name, Mio comes in the train after return from jogging. I love how the four guys try to act like there's nothing happen in front of Mio. It is really funny when they try to hide the cake. Even the calm Hikari involves in the plan. I love how Hikari taps Akira to pretend too when he just casually greets Mio.
By the way, is it just me or Akira now is officially staying in the trains with others unlike before?? Hehe... It seems like Akira is really living in the train from now on. It is a good thing because a team should stick close together. Furthermore, who else will take care of the five childhood friends if not the reliable big brother Akira.
The Shadow monster attacks. While Kagura is busy with the cake, Mio on the other hand is really worried about her. Of course this shocks the others. Right and Tokatti look panic. Luckily, Hikari is there and tells her to focus on the fight. Good job, Hikari! This shadow monster this time is quite different. He uses his special attack, causing the Toqgers to have blonde wig on the head and also a chick's nest with a chick. They have to take care of the chicks if they do not want to die. Only after the monster escapes, Kagura arrives at the scene. However, she laughs when she sees all of them. Of course this only makes them angrier. Kagura is speechless and shuts her mouth.
No matter how many times they try to take the wig off, they eventually fail to do so. Kagura apologizes because she was late, but Right assures her that it is fine since Kagura might have the same fate as them if she was with them earlier. Akira is quite sad because he can not puts his helmet on, but at the same time he seems to enjoy to have the wig on his head. As for Mio, since she is a girl, of course having such an ugly wig is unacceptable. She refuses to die like that. Hikari calms her down, follows by Right and Tokatti. The chicks are very noisy, so they infer that the chicks must be hungry.
In the trains, Akira is busy feeding Right's chick. Akira seems very happy to do that. Akira does have soft spot for animal. He is fine with the chick. He also love cat (there is an episode about that). Right suggests they might as well gives name to the chick. Akira immediately replies and tells him his chick's name. Ichinojo. Haha... Akira somehow looks like a kid in this episode. As for Hikari and Tokatti, they are reading the books on the way to take care of chicks. See... They are learning on being parents; naming the chick, read reference to care for the chick; they truly like parent to me.
Kagura still feels guilty on what happened. Hikari assures Kagura that everything is fine and she should just resume with her plan on learning to make cake. Tokatti also thinks that everything is fine, so she should just make sure that the party for Mio can be done perfectly. With the encouragement, Kagura is in high spirit again. Mio catches them being suspicious as when she approaches the three of them, Tokatti and Hikari immediately join Right and Akira. Kagura excuses herself then.
The monster attacks again. Toqgers are in difficult situation as they have to ensure that their chicks are fine other than fighting the shadow monster. It is then suddenly that the chicks grow up and turn into chicken and attack the monster before leaving them. Everyone is happy except Akira who really loves his Ichinojo. They are saying goodbye to their chicks. Tokatti also has given a name to his chick. Piyorina 2 is the name of Tokatti's chick. The fight resumes and Toqgers win!
Finally, the party is a success. The trains are beautifully decorated. Mio is shocked that today is her birthday. Kagura shows her the cake that she made, but it has no shape of a cake as the monster earlier attack her while she was carrying it. But, taste is more important than the look. Mio tastes the cake and the result is... It is delicious. Kagura did it! Wagon, Conductor and Ticket then walk in with a special dish for Mio's birthday.
The four guys swarm the dish. As soon as Wagon opens her special dish for Mio's birthday, they are speechless. Wagon's special dish turns out to be roast chicken. Wagon make a really big mistake. They refuse to eat it as the chicken reminds them to their 'children'. Even Right who always say NO to food also can't eat it. Wagon and Conductor are quite puzzle with their reaction. Akira once again is reminded on Ichinojo. Mio and Kagura continue to eat the cake happily.
Wooahhh.... What a good episode. Akira's reaction is the best. Since he knows nothing about human before, he is the only one who doesn't help in covering Mio's birthday. For someone who always mention about dying, I'm surprise that he said Ichinojo is not going to die. His reaction upon seeing the roast chicken is also good. I don't know how to describe it though.
I love Toqger as equal as Gobusters despite most people hate both shows. I just love their friendship. They have something unique that covers the flaw on the storyline. Even people said that this is useless filler episode, I think we should have this kind of episode before heavy episodes hit us soon. When I mention about Gobusters, I suddenly miss Hiromu, Yoko and Ryuuji. Sob... sob...
