NEVER CHANGE

Same as ever!

That is one sentence that I can come up with to describe Kouta, Mai and Kaito from the beginning of the series until the near end of the series.
As the series is almost ending and we have already know what exactly has led to the event in the beginning of episode 1 as well as the identity of the other Mai with blond hair; I'll have to say that our three main characters in the series do no change from the aspect of personality.

Kouta and Mai; where am I supposed to begin with these two... Hmmm....

Kouta; although he is not the chosen one to be beat rider, but as fate decides, he becomes one. Since the beginning, he has never think too much on his reason on becoming a Rider. At first, he intended to fight Yggdrasil, then it changed to the fight between Riders and Overlord; but the goal has never change. He became a beat rider only to save and protect the people. Despite being warned by Sagara on the use of the Kiwami Lockseed, he still continues to fight, even at the cost of losing his humanity.

Mai; has always fighting in her own way despite she isn't a beat riders like Yoko. After accepting her fate as Woman of the Beginning, she decides to change the fate of Kouta, Kaito and Micchy only to be trapped in parallel reality. But, she did really try hard to warn the three on the course if the fate that they have chose.

I really feel sorry for Mai as she tried everything to prevent the terrible future that she has seen from happening. But, all were in vain as the future is still possible to happen. She even has to apologize to Micchy and Kouta as she are not capable enough to change the fate. After all, she owns the forbidden fruit. Well, I'm glad that Kouta doesn't blame her for that.

Mai once told Kouta not to suffer alone, now it's payback time. Kouta, knowing that Mai has been suffering alone by going back and forth in time decides to bear the burden along with her. Although Mai opposes the idea at first, but Kouta keeps telling her that it is all his decision. Kouta is right. They make mistakes, but they were all their own decisions. For example; Mai who is trapping in time right now is because of her decision on accepting her role as the Woman of Beginning and tried to change the future by going back in time. As for the battle between Kouta and Kaito, it is their decision too. Kouta and Kaito have never think the same as each other, so the collision between two different minds are not exceptional.

Another thing that is never change between Mai and Kouta is that both desire to protect each other and they have their own ways to protect each other.  

Kouta manages to put Mai's heart at ease with his words. It is true that she can't change what has already happen, but it is not like the future is definite. There is still time to change it. Even Mai also mentions that Kouta has always been the same; the Kouta that she has always believe in.

However, Mai also feels concern as Kaito's future world is different than the world that Kouta hopes for in the future.

(Sigh heavily...)

I was wrong, really wrong, really really wrong, truly wrong when I thought that Kaito has already forgot his ambition on trampling the weak and becoming the strongest person when he works with others especially his long-life rival, Kouta to defeat the overlord. I guess it's hard for the ambition to fade away as he has already carved the goal in his mind and heart since he was little; especially since he witnessed how his family broke apart when his home was destroyed by Yggdrasil (the strong tramples on the weak). Kaito is in the same boat as Kouta and Mai as he's also has never change. I thought that Mai could change his thought on the weak and the strong, but I was absolutely wrong.

p/s: I love Kaito's messy hair. He reminds me to Yoh's messy hair (High School Debut) all over again.

Can't wait for the next episode. The time for Kouta and Kaito to clash once and for all will come soon...
